Description
The Kisil Point Trail has two official trailheads, one on the main park road just south of the Silver Lake Outlet bridge and the other in the Highbanks Camping area. The trail passes an old picnic area and shelter as it makes it way toward Kisil Point. Kisil Point describes the physical feature where the gorge of Silver Lake Outlet meets the gorge of the Genesee River. The trail passes by the Kisil Falls at the start of the trail near the park road.
From the main trailhead off main park road follow the yellow blazed trail over a footbridge. The trail reaches a muddy, cleared area where it can be tough to follow the trail. The Kisil Point Trail veers right and climbs, while to the left is a cleared path that descends toward Silver Lake Outlet. At the bottom you'll see the Lower Kisil Falls, while the Upper Kisil Falls can be viewed by climbing on the right bank as you ascend back.
The trail climbs and winds until it reaches the second trailhead along the Highbanks Campground Road after 0.5 miles. The trail now follows an old woods road as you make your way to the old Kisil Point Picnic Area & Shelter at 0.75 miles. Here the trail splits and you can go left or right (right has some views) as the trail creates a loop. At 1.25 miles the trails meet again and the main trail becomes a running trail again as it begins to descend.
At 1.65 miles you reach Kisil Point. Through the trees you'll see the Silver Lake Outlet gorge on your left as it meets the Genesee River Gorge, creating Kisil Point.
