There was a recent storm that felled some trees, but they've mostly been cleaned up. You may have to climb over a log or two.

Need to Know

Miller Landing Trailhead is the closest trailhead. Large and maintained porta-potty at Gate A Equestrian Entrance. EKP Park is a site (#66) on the Great Florida Birding Trail (GFBT). Mountain Bike Trails, Horse Trails, Hiking Trails, Shared-Use Trails, Red Hills International Horse Trials (March), Bluebird & Butterfly Trails, Wildlife Viewing and Parking.

A little winding but fewer roots than other trails.

Description

The trail runs beside a clear sand-bottom seepage stream in many places and passes through Beech-Magnolia and Spruce Pine forests. The trail crosses a black-water stream that drains a seepage basin swamp. Along the north side of the loop, the trail passes through an upland forest and crosses another stream before returning to the trailhead.

Flora & Fauna

One of the best places in town to find mushrooms! Mosquitos can get moderately tedious, so pack insect repellant. Keep an eye out for poison oak and poison ivy if you leave the trail.
