Need to Know

Personally, I find it easier to climb a rocky trail and descend stairs than the other way around, so if you are like me, travel clockwise. They recommend that you wear sneakers and not lugged hiking boots to reduce damage to the trail. They tell you that on a sign part way up the stairs, so it is back to the car to change shoes... No problem doing this in sneakers.

Runner Notes

You can run the top. You would probably blow out your Achilles running up the hill.

Description

This is a steep route at the start and finish. Fairly flat at the top.

I'm not sure I saw anything that looked like a prairie on this trail. Certainly nothing to remind me of Little House on the Prairie. I was there early, so perhaps they let the prairie out later in the day. Nevertheless, it was a nice run with great views of the surrounding farmland.

Flora & Fauna

Standard forest creatures.
