Need to Know

The portion of Trail 3 leading to Rose Island is paved but extremely steep.

Runner Notes

Great trail for running, but stop and read the signs.

Description

Cross the historical Portersville Bridge to step foot on what was once Rose Island Amusement Park. This trail offers a plethora of informational signs displaying info about the historical park. There has been a lot of improvement to this trail in the past decade and it almost feels like an outdoor museum. While most of the structures were washed away, a few stone foundations remain including the entrance, pool and dance hall. If you look closely, you can see a few depressions where buildings once stood. This is a very fun and informational trail and a must see if you visit Charlestown State Park.

Flora & Fauna

Lots of birding opportunities. Fishing is allowed on the banks of Fourteen Mile Creek.
