Overview
This run provides beautiful views of the Hudson River, the Village of Nyack and 360 degree view from the top of Hook Mountain.
Description
This run is in the Palisades Interstate Park Region of Southern New York. Starting from the trailhead right next to the Rockland Lake Fire Department, this is a 50-50 run. Half the run is tight pack gravel path along the Hudson River on the
Nyack River Trail and a few streets. 80% of this half has great views of the river or the cliffs. The other half is in the woods and has a moderate climb up to the top of Hook Mountain. From there you can see everything! The Hudson River, The Village of Nyack, all the lakes, mountains and scenery in all directions. The last 2 miles is along the ridge overlooking the river before tucking into the woods for the slow descent down to the Rockland Lake Fire Department where you began. You can also start this trail at the Nyack Beach State Park parking lot in Upper Nyack, right on the river. Either direction is acceptable.
