Description

The Florence Nature Preserve Red Trail intersects the Blue Trail at both ends, giving the runner a choice of direction. This trail is very steep in some sections, so runners should exercise caution. At approximately the midpoint of the Red Trail, the runner will intersect a side trail leading to Rattlesnake Knob, which offers a beautiful view of the Hickory Nut Gorge and is one of this area's hidden gems.

The Red Trail is the perfect place to go for a quiet and pleasant run in the woods, off the beaten path. This land is home to many special plants and wildlife, from pink and yellow ladyslippers to rare salamanders. Keep your eyes open and you never know what you might see!
