Dogs Leashed
Be cautious during deer season. Hunting is not allowed on the rail bed, but could be all around you.
Description
The trail passes through a mostly open corridor, in places wooded, traveling through farmland and by ponds and creeks. It offers a very secluded feel while still being close to two small towns, Goddard and Garden Plain.
The trail is a hard packed crushed limestone and calcium surface that could even support a road bike; although I would use a little wider tires than that. It's a straight eight miles with a slight elevation change that's great for family rides, jogging, hiking and experiencing nature.
Some of the views of surrounding fields are amazing and must be experienced to appreciate its beauty. Lots of wildlife can be experienced out here so keep your eyes open! Be sure to check out the covered bridge at the far West end of the trail in Garden Plain. It is open to equestrians, so please be courteous when approaching riders.
