Overview
While the route tends to be a bit steep at times, it stakes you straight up to some of the best views in the park. From the Ocean lookout you can see Mount Battie, the town of Camden, and all of Penobscot Bay including Acadia. Look really carefully on a clear day and you might even see Mount Washington to the west.
Description
From the parking area, take Megunticook Trail all the way up to it's terminus at Ridge Trail. The trail gets steeper and steeper as you run but its never too extreme. Once the trail ends you'll have wonderful views of the ocean. You can see Mount Battie, the town of Camden, and all of Penobscot Bay including Acadia. Look really carefully on a clear day and you might even see Mount Washington to the west.
Continue on, following ridge trail to reach the summit of Mount Megunticook. After enjoying the summit, turn back and at the junction, follow Adam's Lookout Trail to return. Adam's Lookout Trail has more wonderful views as it descends a somewhat steep grade back to the junction with Megunticook Trail. A right will take you back down to the parking area.
