Not very good terrain for running. A lot of rocks and uneven dirt. Not terrible, though.

Starting at the Mounds Campground Shelterhouse, the trail travels parallel to Templeton Creek Road before turning right and heading into the woods. You'll soon cross a small, now broken footbridge built by Boy Scout Troop 40 of Liberty, IN. The trail remains mostly flat and heavily shaded for the next mile. You'll soon come across a peaceful pond on the left side of the trail.

Around a mile in, you'll pass cropland and a few small, grassy meadows. You may notice the strange evenly spread out mix of pine and deciduous trees along this trail, especially compared to the other trails around Brookville Lake. About 1.5 miles in, the trail will descend down towards the lake. You'll be able to catch glimpses of the lake in late fall, winter, and early spring.

The rest of the trail follows the side of Garr Hill running parallel to the lake and a small river. Eventually the trail descends and crosses the small river with an obnoxiously large concrete bridge. The remainder of the trail is flat and follows the river to the Garr Hill Boat Ramp and parking.
