The combination of the Canyon Rim Trail and the Rio Grande Trail makes for a complete loop through a large section of the park. The run offers stunning views of Seminole Canyon and the Rio Grande. This mostly flat and rocky trail takes you among remnants of ancient native dwellings and has a view of Panther Cave.
Need to Know
There is no shade in first half of trail.
The trail takes you along the rim of Seminole Canyon with breathtaking views along the way. Flanked by south Texas scrub brush, you'll discover remnants of native dwellings.
At the southern end of the trail, you'll encounter Panther Cave where religious ceremonies were once performed. Looking off to the south, you'll see the Rio Grande and Mexico with mountains off in the distance.
After the overlook, you join up with the Rio Grande Trail to run back to the parking area. This trail is basically a service road.
