Need to Know
There are bathrooms and small café at the trailhead. There is no water on the trail, however in winter. there are many small streams on the trail that you can drink from if you have a filter.
Description
This trail begins at The Springs, where there is parking, bathrooms, and a small café. Begin at Trackhead 1. Soon after the parking lot, there is a set of stairs. Immediately after the stairs, turn left and follow the Milles Track towards Wellington Falls. Do not continue straight, as this will ultimately lead you to the summit of the mountain.
The trail has a moderate incline, but is not challenging. On a clear day, there are some nice views of Hobart and the water. At one point there is a trail to the left called "Snake Plains Track." This trail should not be taken. Instead, continue on straight on the "Wellington Falls Track."
As you progress, more and more rocks with beautiful white lichen appear on the trail, and eventually the trail opens up on a pretty large boulder field. This is apparently know as the "Potato Fields." The field has moderately sized rocks which are quite stable and not too challenging to traverse, but this section does require a little balance. The way is clearly indicated with metal poles with orange tags.
After the boulder field, there is another section of forest that has more grassy trees. In winter, this section may have snow and be a bit sodden and muddy, but the trail is not hard to follow. At the end, the trail descends and finishes at a lookout over the falls with a bench.
