During winter months this trail is not accessible when La Sal Pass Road (FS #0073) is closed. La Sal Pass Road is closed by snow during winter months, typically sometime in November or early December to April.

This trail is a good starting point for running loops on the South Mountain Trail

Description

The trailhead for this trail is located at the Medicine Lake Parking Area. To get on the trail, face the lake and stay to left, follow along the lake and pick up the trail. The trail is not marked with any blazes, but is easily distinguishable. It winds along gently rolling hills. There are some exposed rocks, but it is not technical. There are many old growth fir trees that line the trail. This trail intersects with South Mountain Trail.

Runners can go left or right and create a loop in either direction.

Flora & Fauna

Fir and aspen trees, wildflowers in summer. Runners may encounter, deer, elk, and bear on this trail.
