Need to Know

There is parking to get to this loop and also to get on the Rountree Branch trail to bike /walk through the city of Platteville. The parking is located to the west, in Memorial Park.

The trail tends to wash out in the early spring and summer rains. It does get repaired, but watch out for big areas of erosion on the southeast corner and also on the northwest corner at the bottom of the small hill.

Description

The trail loop is bi-directional. The center of the loop is all prairie. Flowers and grasses native to the area. You'll also see deer, racoons, woodchuck, and many birds in this area. The Rountree Branch stream runs on the northside of the trail. There is a bridge that you cross to access this loop.
