Overview
A good day hike to do with an easy access.
Need to Know
Parking is free and a portable toilet is in the parking lot.
Runner Notes
This is a nice mellow trail run, but with potential crowding, it can be difficult to navigate around everyone.
Description
The trail starts from a gravel parking lot off Brush Creek Road (738).
The trail starts out pretty flat with no shade and awesome views of Teocalli and other nearby mountains.
This is a great year-round run; it's awesome in the fall with yellow aspens covering the hills in the distance and nearby on the sides of the trail for some quick and easy access to some great leaf peeping, and fantastic in the summer as well with beautiful wildflowers.
Be prepared for a handful of muddy stream crossings along the way, but it is a very easy-to-follow trail that parallels the meandering East River.
The trail ends at a fence and an amazing view of the valley you just went along. Spend some time enjoying the view, and when you're ready, head back the way you came.
The total trail is 4.4 miles, round trip, with around 320' of elevation gain.
Flora & Fauna
Wide variety of wildflowers. You may encounter some mosquitoes, so bring spray.
