“Beautiful and well-marked one-way trail through Nuuksio National Park, Finland. Accessible via Helsinki public transit.”

Birding · Lake · Views · Wildflowers
No winter trail maintenance.
This run has it all: beautiful lake views, wildflowers, bird watching, and plenty of peace and quiet. You'll traipse through meadows and go past many lakes and streams with nice picnic areas. You can even grab some free firewood and cook a hot meal for yourself if you'd like! Finish the run at the Haltia visitors center with a cold beer.
Need to Know
Haltia has a large visitor center with restrooms and a cafe. The starting point at Kattila is marked but there are no facilities. Several spots along the trail have dry toilets.
I think this would make a good trail run! It is wide and well marked (my guess is that it is used as a nordic ski track in winter). There are a few roots etc to watch out for, and also a large staircase in the middle.
This is a great trail which can be done in either direction. I would recommend going from Kattila to Haltia because it is slightly downhill the whole way, and there is a large staircase about halfway through which you'll go down.
Take the bus 245(A) from Espoo city centre, or park at Haltia and take the 245(A) the rest of the way to Katilla. There are plentiful picnic spots and lakefront views, and if you're luckier than I was you might spot a Siberian flying squirrel!
Flora & Fauna
Squirrels, mountain wildflowers, lilies, thistle.
