Description

Go west out of Choteau on the Teton Canyon Rd and stay on as it turns to gravel and at this point is also known as the North Fork Teton Canyon Rd. Stay on the road all the way to the end where you'll find parking areas and forest service toilets. The trailhead is on the left just prior to going over the North Fork Teton River bridge and adjacent to some forest service stock corrals.

Take the West Fork Teton Trail #114 (essentially a road ) about 0.4 miles to the junction with Mount Wright Hiker Trail #160. Take a right onto the singletrack which takes you to the top of Mount Wright. The trail starts out fairly moderate and gets progressively more challenging the further you go.

Up until about 3/4 of the way the trail passes through forest and meadows with openings offering great views. A little over 3/4 of the way the trail takes a hard turn to the west and from this point on it becomes much steeper and mostly passes through open scree and there is little protection from the elements.

Almost to the top the trail makes a hard right turn to the north and mainly follows the spine of the ridge up to the top of the peak. Views to the west at this point look into the Bob Marshall Wilderness and on a clear day the Chinese Wall is clearly visible.

There is a radio tower and small building at the top that offers some protection from the wind.

At 8875 feet on the summit you'll find 360 degree views, absolutely marvelous!

Flora & Fauna

Mule deer, elk, mountain goats, bighorn sheep, game birds, and more.
