Description

The Tan Oak Trail start is found at a marked trail junction with Blue Springs Trail, very near the end of Blue Springs Trail. Head north off of Blue Springs Trail to run Tan Oak Trail.

Tan Oak Trail immediately enters the mixed redwood forest, and climbing gradually, stays in the forest for its entire length. A couple of very short, side, access trails are passed almost immediately to the right/east - Meadow Trail Cut-Off and Tan Oak Campground Access Trail. At the 0.3 mile mark, Tan Oak Trail veers right/east and begins traversing the steep northern slopes of Mt. Madonna. The forested hillside drops off to the left/north and rises to the right/south. The trail runs along this hillside for the rest of its route, another 0.8 miles. At the 0.8 mile mark, Tan Oak Access Trail that leads to a large picnic area, is passed on the right.

Tan Oak Trail ends after 1.1 miles at an unmarked trail junction with Lower Miller Trail.

Flora & Fauna
