Description

The run starts from Ltsen Village, Syunik province. The road to Liege is picturesque with with wide trails and scenic mountains. In order to get from Sisian to Ltsen, runners will need to take a taxi because public transport does not operate to the village. Once out of the village, the route goes through beautiful forests. The road is unique.

Usually, these trails are more for an enthusiastic runner, but the route is becoming more popular. If you have the time, several monuments can also be visited on the way: Zorats Karer (Sisian), Shaki Waterfall (Sisian), Old Khndzoresk Caves (Khndzoresk Village), Swing Bridge (Khndzoresk Village), Tatevs Ropeway and Devil's Bridge (Halidzor and Tatev villages).

Flora & Fauna

On the both sides of the road, the hawthorn is quiet high. Other type of plants include mariamakhot (Armenian name of a tea), (Cichorium), chamomile, (Cephalaria), and frankfurter (Centaurea).

Among Sisian wildlife, you may spot bee, wolf, fox (only the gray-haired tribe), and rabbit. In the woods of Ltsen and Arenis there are wild goats, pigs, and peacocks. The rivers and lakes are rich with fishes. In the Vorotan River and in other clear and frozen waters, red-colored fish breed, which, however, is rarely encountered because of swine fever.

The region is also rich in predatory birds. In all zones, you may spot peacocks. Birds of prey include vultures, with big claws. There are many eagles that are mostly interested in rodents in the area.
