Description

This 9-mile, non-motorized trail has easy grades with a steep climb in the last ¼ mile. Popular for hunters during big game season, horseback riding and mountain biking (No E-Bikes Allowed).

There is no drinking water or rest facilities. Water sources along trail are limited. Parking is adequate for several large vehicles, including attached horse trailers. Numerous livestock trails braid the trail. Use of GPS/compass/topo map strongly recommended!

This trail provides access to a rather primitive section of the Routt National Forest. The trail begins at the site of an old gravel quarry used in building Forest Highway 16. Traversing lower slopes, it crosses open parks and aspen stands. When it meets Rough Creek at mile 1.1, you'll begin to see Lodgepole Pine. Continuing in a northwesterly direction, the trail slowly gains elevation for the next 1.8 miles (8,800 feet).

At this point, it begins a descent of 240 feet to its crossing of Cyclone Creek. This stream drains a large meadow which lies to the west, named Cyclone Park. From this point, you'll steadily gain elevation until you reach Cyclone Park trail, 9320' (2768m). The last 2.5 miles will take you to Stinsby Trail #1193.1, just south of the Beaver Flat Tops.
