A good, flat trail with few loose stones.
Description
The parking lot is tucked away in the back of the Roaring River Campground. Follow the signs that lead up toward the Roaring River. Don't follow the fisherman's trail that heads up along the river, but cut right and uphill as soon as you can.
The trail immediately switchbacks its way up the hill, gaining about 1,000 feet in the first 1.3 miles. It's here that you get a good/rare view into the Clackamas River Valley.
A short while after this, the trail mellows out and carves the side of a hill through huge firs as it slowly makes its way up. A couple of miles in, you cross the pretty Grouse Creek which is choked with moss-covered boulders that seems as alive as the trees. Turning the corner you come to a lovely flat which precedes the last big climb. Switchback your way up the hill until you make mellow ground that lies above a steep drop.
The trail finally pulls away from the drop and rolls into flatter ground where it ends at the
Grouse Point Trail #517
