Description

Several long switchbacks bring you to Malans Peak. Beyond Malans Peak (which is more of an overlook than a peak), you'll find Malans Basin where a hotel once stood. The long switchbacks to Malans Peak take you through a wonderful evergreen forest. From the basin, find the trail that continues east toward Ogden Saddle. I never cared to go from the saddle to Ogden Peak, it being marred by cell tower stuff.

Once at the saddle, consider going down Beus Canyon Trail and then circling back to where you started via the Bonneville Shoreline Trail, but only if you think you've got enough energy and provisions.

Note that you can also reach Malan's Basin from Waterfall Canyon Trail, but it is a bit tricky and committing.
