This is a wide and very easy trail that offers excellent views of Piton de la Fournaise from the top of the ramparts, especially along the beginning. There are stone walls built along areas where the trail is close to the edge. There are a few additional view points along the route that you can take short spurs to as well.

There will be some rocks on the trail, but overall it's very easy to run along. At about a quarter of a mile, you'll pass an information kiosk, and thereafter the trail narrows and descends a bit faster—including stairs. The trail ends at an intersection with the Sentier du Cratere Dolomieu Trail, which leads down into the crater and then to the very top of Piton de la Fournaise, the Sentier du Piton Partage et du Nez Coupe de Saint-Rose Trail, and a trail connecting Pas de Bellecombe to Git du Volcan.
