Overview

With lots of creeks near Lola Lakes, you won't want for water. Nor will you want for options... You can run .25 miles off trail to fish/camp at Lola Lakes if you're inclined (I'd recommend the upper one). Finally, there are beautiful views from the ridge.

Need to Know

Follow rock cairns to find the trail in the burned area after the creek crossing. There are some downed trees across the trail, especially in the first couple miles.

Description

This out of the way trail provides access to the Lola Lakes, then climbs to the Cape Horn divide for a great overview of the drainage. However, you shouldn't to stop there!

Continue along the ridge, past a couple false summits about a mile for stunning views of the Sawtooths, the White Clouds, and the valley to the South. The run ends at Cape Horn Mountain. From there, you'll look down on Collie Lake and the Collie Lake drainage. Even if you don't want to go all the way to Cape Horn Mountain, you'll at least want to run a the few hundred feat to the first high point on the ridge to get the mountain views, which are hidden from view when you are at the divide.

I didn't go to the Lola Lakes but they are only about .25 mile off the trail. There is a sign along the trail that shows the where to diverge to get to the upper lake. It looks like it would be easy cross country running to get there.
