Foot traffic should yield right-of-way to downhill mountain bikers.

Need to Know

This is a popular mountain biking downhill trail and bikes move along it with speed. Use caution on the trails and respect other users. Foot traffic should yield right-of-way to downhill bikers.

Description

This newer trail starts at the intersection of Pauli and Uncle Nazty, and connects down into (Upper) Sand Dunes. Expect a rolling start before things get very interesting; after a left turn there will be an optional exposed line on the right (with the best view down onto Salida) into an optional five-foot step-down on the right.

Continue into more rolling trail with several lines until another optional rock on the left. The trail then pitches down with several one-foot step in turns, into more steep. It levels out about two-thirds in, and actually goes uphill for a little bit, before the final downhill section into a wash that connects it into (Upper) Sand Dunes.

This trail is rugged, with steeper grades, lots of rock, and some exposure.

This trail was hand-built by Singletrack Trails Inc., for Salida Mountain Trails.
