Wilderness regulations apply. This trail is open year round; however, weather may make access difficult especially in the winter and spring months.

Description

This trail provides an alternative path if following the Lost Creek Wilderness Loop that allows for scenic views of the park that the trail is named after. After reaching the top of Hankins Pass the trailhead will appear off to the right. Begin the meandering run up through granite formations that provide breathtaking views to the south and west.

Lake Park itself is a small open area at almost 11,000 feet; it is surrounded by granite and the snags of a burned ghost forest. Lake Park is a great place to camp for the night.

Flora & Fauna

This area is great for alpine columbine viewing, a high-altitude miniature of the state flower.
