This is not a great running trail but a nice short loop if you need to stretch your legs. The trail starts at the beginning of the Whitehurst-Buffington House driveway. The Whitehurst-Buffington House driveway and the municipal center overflow parking share the same entrance off of North Landing Rd. After parking in the municipal overflow parking lot, run back to the entrance.
The trail starts by going up the Whitehurst-Buffington driveway. You can stop in and visit the historic house on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays (check the website for hours). Stay to the right of the house and you'll see a trail marker as the trail heads into the woods. In about twenty feet, you'll see the bridge to the Whitehurst Trail
If you decide not to take the longer loop, turn right before the bridge to stay on the Buffington Trail. The trail winds through the woods until you get to the back side of some buildings where it turns to the right to head back to the trail beginning.
