Description
Ridgeline offers a slightly more challenging alternative to the Circumference Trail since it leads you to the top of the hill rather than around it. The trail is well-maintained, clearly marked, and has only a minimal amount of loose gravel in some places. The actual summit cannot be reached without veering off the trail about 100 feet, but staying the course offers good views of the suburban development in the south, desert mountains in the north, and the Central Arizona Project aqueduct that separates the two.
The trail descends the hill via a few large switchbacks and connects to the Circumference Trail at the bottom. If you are able to tackle a bit of an incline to the top, this trail is definitely worth the effort.
Flora & Fauna
Desert plants and cacti are plentiful. You’ll likely encounter squirrels, birds, and lizards. Also, be on the lookout for rattlesnakes!
