Description

The trail starts in the roadside parking area on the east side of SR 542. The route immediately descends a staircase, then flattens out. The trail meanders, following the glacially fed North Fork of the Nooksack River upstream. The trail rolls up and down over the variable terrain, passing over small streams but remaining in clear and reasonable condition.

This is a perfect trail to see lush old-growth forest with the occasional view of the steep mountains forming the valley. Make sure you watch for the occasional kayaker battling the whitewater downstream.

The trail is low enough in elevation to be used year-round but may be snowy and icy during the winter.
