Prepare to be blown away, both literally (by the wind) and figuratively (by the view) as you visit the end of the world.

Description

This is a short, popular run to a disused lighthouse at the westernmost point on the Isle of Skye. You get kind of the "end of the world" effect as you make your way out towards the lighthouse on the point with the vastness of the Atlantic Ocean in the background. If it's clear, you can see the Outer Hebrides.

The place is amazingly green, which is especially appreciated by the ubiquitous sheep. If you explore the area, there are some great cliffside views. Particularly stunning is the view back towards the craggy coast as you return from the lighthouse out on the peninsula.

The path down to the lighthouse itself is steep and mostly paved. There are a few stairs along the way as well. Of course on the way back, you've got to climb up the descent. You'll want to take your time on this one anyway to enjoy the absolutely stunning cliffside views towards the lighthouse and back towards the island.

This tends to be a windy place though, so come prepared. There is a small parking area at the end of the road, but it tends to get filled up in the summer. The area is held in common as grazing land for Waterstein Township (except for the lighthouse itself, which is privately owned). Expect to find sheep grazing.
