“Shaharut – Timna is the longest and the most challenging segment of all the Israel Bike Trail segments”
— Noam etz
This segment is NOT suitable for travel between May and August due to high temperatures in the region.
The Shaharut – Timna segment is the longest and most remote of all the Israel Bike Trail segments. Though it's called a "Bike Trail", many types of non-motorized travel are welcome, including running. This is a challenging segment that clearly defines the concept of desert travel.
The route reveals some of the most unusual desert scenery in the country, and perhaps even the world. You’ll make your way past undulating layers of limestone, chalk and flint as well as veins of plaster and sandstone.
