Runner Notes

Lots of rock scrambling so be careful with your speed and watch your footing.

Description

This route is not directly accessible from the parking area. Instead, you'll either need to take the Long Path: Section 1 south to the Shore Path, where you'll first reach the Peanut Leap Cascade, or you'll need to head north, also on the Long Path: Section 1, and also connecting to the Shore Trail before making it to this section of trail.

If you come in from the north, continue south on the Shore Trail (white markers). Following the white markers, and you'll scramble almost a mile across the boulder field called "the Giant Stairs." These trails can be steep and slippery, requiring runners to be fairly coordinated to negotiate the tough terrain.

If you're looking to complete a loop, keep an eye out about 1/4 mile south of the boulder field, to find the steep Forest View Trail (blue-and-white markers) and take it up to its intersection with the Long Path (aqua). Turn right (north) on the Long Path, cross the stream, and take the aqua trail back to the Lookout.
