Description

Take this trail up the junction (about .75mi), with Moonshine Gulch Trail #438. Much traffic takes a right on Moonshine Gulch Trail to avoid the next 1.5 to 2 miles. The trail is steep, rough, often wet, and is generally considered not very enjoyable. Moonshine Gulch Trail will take you around that, and meet back up with it, right at the base of Mt Ellis. The trail can get a bit wet, but overall it's 1000% times better than New World Gulch on its best day.

You'll have some fire road, some amazing singletrack and some really fun hills all the way out to the lake.

Watch for hunters and bears.

Don't let the pretty stream and flat-ish trail fool you... New World Gulch is awful.
