Description

The trail begins approximately 0.1 miles from the start of the Bear Canyon Trail #29 in the Sabino Canyon Recreation Area, but it is often started from the Cactus Picnic Area approximately 0.5 miles up the tram road.

The first mile is fairly tame, but from there until the 4.5-mile mark is a more strenuous climb, and you'll enjoy a slight reprieve before the climbing resumes. Just before mile 7, the Cathedral Rock Trail #26 jaunts to the northeast. After passing the high point, you'll reach the reason most folks head up this rugged trail: "The Window". At the end, the trail joins both Finger Rock Trail #42 and Ventana Canyon.

This trail is often combined in a loop with Ventana Canyon or more commonly the combination of Sabino Canyon Trail #23, East Fork Trail #24, and Cathedral Rock Trail #26 for a 21+ mile jaunt through the canyons (the loop is recommended CCW).
