Description
The Perkins Trail starts about 100 yards in from Route 301 at the
Charcoal Burners Trail. The trail is marked with yellow discs and is easy to follow. After about a half mile, you'll pass the
Cabot Trail on the right. Continue until you come to a clearing and some old rusted farm equipment. Just beyond this, next to a large tree, is a gate that gives runners access to an easement through private property—be sure to close the gate. Follow the easement along farmland until the trail makes a sudden sharp left into a field. Look for markers either painted on rocks or plastic posts.
As you crest a small hill, there is a dirt farm road to the left. Follow this until it winds into the forest and ends. The trail is easy to follow once you are back on singletrack.
After about 1.5 miles, you'll reach a descent to Clove Creek. Follow Clove Creek to Glynnwood Road. Cross the road for a steep climb up. Past this point, the trail is very rocky so sturdy boots are needed. The trail ends on
School Mountain Road Trail.
