A beachfront run from Summerland to Montecito.

Features Swimming · Views

Description

From Lookout County Park in Summerland descend the paved path down to the beach. From there head up the coast and you'll run into a sea wall that extends to Fernando Point. It may be beneficial to run on the sea wall during high tide, but it might require some bushwhacking to get on top. Once you pass Fernando Point, take some time to take in the view by looking inland at the Santa Ynez peaks and the overturned beds of sandstone near them.

You'll then cross the Fernald-Shark’s Cove beach before crossing the Miramar Beach below the former site of the Miramar Hotel. A quarter mile later, you'll run across Hammonds beach, a popular surfing spot. Up-coast from here you’ll eventually come across Butterfly Beach, which sits opposite the Biltmore Hotel. At this point the Summerland Beach Trail concludes.
