Cut immediately right as soon as you reach the Lower Reservoir (at the dam) when following Balanced Rock Rd.
The trail follows a seasonal creek, about 100 feet to the east (the right side as you ascend) and is a bit steep for 1/4 mile. At that point, the old trail scrambles over a boulder but a new option cuts left (down the slope toward creek) and reconnects in only 300 feet. Then it is a gentle climb, with some solitude compared to Balanced Rock Rd.
, until the last 1000 feet kick up to ridge where you'll come to an intersection with the Sundance Mountain Trail
and reach the end of this trail.
