Overview

This long section of an even longer trail is a wonderful run, providing a pleasant path whether you're in for the full trail or just for a short portion. With green scenery all along the way, you're sure to enjoy the route.

Description

Spanning 150 miles from the Delaware River and Riegelsville, NJ to the Hudson River in New York, the Highlands Trail traverses some of New Jersey’s highlights. Though the trail continues, the section mapped here will allow runners to admire the whole state of New Jersey.

The trail is a combination of co-alignments with other established trails, new trails, and road running. The Highlands Trail is marked by a teal diamond blaze, which is fairly easy to see in most places. Runners should still pay attention to signage, as the Highlands Trail will often split off from other established trails in the co-aligned sections.

The GPX map file and trail information were offered by the NY/NJ Trail Conference. A more detailed description of the various sections of the trail can be found here.
