For trail conditions, closures, and restrictions check the park website at tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/…. As most trails either follow the river or require you to cross it, it is wise to check for closures prior to visiting.
Description
This trail begins off the Cedar Ridge Trail. You'll start heading in a southeastern direction where you'll slowly climb a small cedar covered ridge. After about 0.3 miles, the trail turns northeast at a junction with the Buckeye Connector which heads back to Cedar Brake Outer Loop. Stay left to continue on Buckeye Trail as it follows the ridge to the northeast. It passes two intersections with the Buckeye Loop which is a nice alternative to the main trail that travels a little closer to the creek. After 1.1 miles the trail ends at the junction with Cedar Brake Outer Loop.
You'll wind your way in and out of the cedar covered path as you enjoy scenery typical for this part of the state. There are a few waterfalls along Buckeye Creek, so keep an eye out as you run the trail. This trail provides a nice shorter alternative to the entire Cedar Brake Outer Loop.
