Description

The Wellman Loop Trail is 1.5 miles long and is only 500 meters from the Jed Smith Visitor Center. The parking area for the trailhead is across the street. There is a short run to the loop. I thought this beginning part was the highlight of the run. You run through patches of clover on each side of the trail, and it’s a nice section of old growth redwoods.

There is a sign directing you to the right for the loop. The trail climbs quickly. The trail is steep all the way to the top. Near the top is a small grave of redwoods, but this trail is so steep it is hardly worth the effort. If you would like a workout this is a good trail. There are better trails in the park to see the redwoods.
