Overview

This challenging route offers great views of Lake Allatoona, the Allatoona Dam, and a communications tower at the top of Mt. Vineyard.

Need to Know

Vineyard Mountain Trail 3 is the most difficult. Label "Advanced" on the ACOE map. Hiking from the northern trailhead on Vineyard Mountain Trail 2 (blue blaze) and Vineyard Mountain Trail 3 (red blaze) covers an elevation gain of 650 ft over 0.9 mi.

Runner Notes

Vineyard Mountain Trail 1, the main yellow blazed trail, is suitable for trail running. The trail has 20% coverage of roots and rocks with very few sections of level ground.

Description

This trail system consists of three trails. The Army Corp Of Engineers map outlines these as Vineyard Mountain Trail 1 (yellow blaze), Vineyard Mountain Trail 2 (blue blaze), and Vineyard Mountain Trail 3 (red blaze). A map is available here.

Vineyard Mountain Trail 1 has a number of side trails that lead to clearings along the shoreline of Lake Allatoona.
