At about 6 miles along the Canyon Creek Lakes Trail
, take the junction to Boulder Creek Lakes. You'll need to ford Canyon Creek and doing so is only safe later in the season.
After crossing the creek, climb through chaparral and pines. As the trees and brush give way to bare granite, follow the cairns to the lakes.
Look for ceanothus and manzanita in the chaparral. Conifers include ponderosa pine, sugar pine, western white pine, and incense cedar.
