Overview

This route starts at the Anthony's Nose trailhead with a small parking area nearby. The trails go past a few overlooks on the way to the Anthony's Nose Overlook. You'll know you are at Anthony's Nose when you see an American Flag.

This trail then joins the Appalachian Trail down to the Bear Mountain Bridge, which is the only point along the AT that the trail crosses tidal water. There is a walkway separated from the roadway to cross the bridge on foot.

Need to Know

There are several areas that are posted and restricted along this run, so keep an eye on trail markers.

Description

This is an out-and-back run that includes several overlooks on the way up to the Anthony's Nose peak. You'll know you are at the main overlook when you see the American Flag!

We then headed down to cross the Bear Mountain Bridge that can be seen from every overlook on this journey. The Bear Mountain Bridge is the only portion of the Appalachian Trail that crosses a tidal waterway. There is a great view back up at Anthony's Nose peak, making the descent to the bridge, and the return trip well worthwhile.
