This spur starts at the junction of the Quail Valley Trail and Cold Valley Trail, where there is a large dirt staging area for ATVs and a few old fire rings. Head south along a wide rocky trail, then travel down a steep slope and across a small creek. Immediately after the creek, you can make a sharp right onto the Aspen Grove Trail or continue left on the spur. The trail levels out and travels across relatively flat trail sagebrush meadows with great views of Washoe Valley.
