Runner Notes

The trail is suitable for trail running.

Description

Enjoy the last (or first depending upon your perspective) few miles of the 4,600 mile long North Country National Scenic Trail within Lake Sakakawea State Park. When you hike it, imagine finishing or starting a 4,600 mile long trek to/from Crown Point State Historic Site in NY.

The trail features a mix of wooded ravines and upland prairie and many great views out onto the Lake.

Flora & Fauna

The gently rolling prairie, wooded draws and shelterbelts contribute food and a secure habitat for a diverse wildlife community. Visitors may see white-tailed deer, ring-necked pheasants, raccoons, jackrabbits, or perhaps a coyote or fox.
