Description

Hop on the Blue Ridge Summit Trail for a pleasant half-day trek through established hardwood forests in the heart of Catoctin Mountain Park.

Starting at the Hog Rock Parking Area, the trail meanders through rolling terrain for about a half mile before reaching the fantastic views atop the Blue Ridge Summit Overlook. From here, the trail descends east bound and down on a mixed tread, passing junctions with the Thurmont Vista Trail and the Wolf Rock / Chimney Rock Trail before reaching the trail's end near the Catoctin Mountain Visitor Center.

Flora & Fauna

Keep your eyes peeled for oak, hickory, tulip poplar, mountain laurel, spicebush, lowbush blueberry, and viburnum along the trail.
