Description
The Birch Bluff Trail provides visitors with a wonderful opportunity to explore the true solitude offered by the meandering waters of South Fork Quantico Creek and the rich surrounding woodlands.
Starting at the junction with the
Laurel Loop Trail, follow the trail north along the peaceful waters of South Fork Quantico Creek. While on the creek, keep your eyes peeled for signs of beaver activity, as they have been known to inhabit this area.
After about a half mile, the trail turns away from the creek and begins a gently-graded, short climb through a secluded section of forest to a junction with the yellow-blazed
Laurel Loop Trail. Continue south (left) on the joint
Laurel Loop Trail/ Birch Bluff Trail until you see the red blazes of the Birch Bluff Trail split left. Follow the Birch Bluff Trail through a small depression and back up the other side to a junction with the Crossing Trail and the trail's end.
