“Located near Ophir Mountain, this trail connects Ophir Mountain Road to the Peaks Trail.”
— Andy Hardy
From the Ophir Mountain Road doubletrack, this trail heads off to the west. After roughly 0.5 miles, Ho Chi Min Trail #9155 heads off to the right (north). Here, you'll see a marker for the 9047 Trail but not for Ho Chi Min Trail #9155.
Follow this trail for 0.2 miles to a sharp right hander that follows a bench. From here, the trail continues on the bench for a few tenths of a mile before dropping quickly down to the Peaks Trail
This is a fun alternate loop option where you can incorporate CT - Segment 7
(Gold Hill Trail) and Peaks Trail
. Running either west to east or east to west is fine. The trail is narrow but the downhill to the Peaks Trail
is sandy, so an ankle roll isn't a huge risk even if you're running east to west.
