Overview
This alpine run is extremely popular, though it's somewhat less beautiful than lower areas with more vegetation.
This area is extremely high and the weather can be MUCH worse than elsewhere in the region. Clouds seem to stick to these peaks more than others, and, of course, it's much colder at this elevation.
Important: pay attention to the last gondola down - it's a LONG way if you miss it!
Description
Follow obvious signs from the lift on the dirt doubletrack. You'll pass signs for the
First Cliff Walk, a fun detour for families in particular. Continue following the yellow Wanderweg signs through open tundra with marmots, some flowers, and snowbanks, which last late into July.
Arrive at the lake and enjoy the views.
Along with trails around Kleine Scheidegg (such as the
Eiger Trail), this is probably the easiest way to get to the high alpine and have a chance to run around.
