Runner Notes

This is a great trail for running. It's nice and wide with elevation changes that are not too extreme.

Description

This is a nice and shady trail that is a great connector from Mueller to Dome Rock SWA. Mostly an old ranch or fire road, it's wide and covered in crushed granite. Many trails branch off of Black Bear Trail to explore other parts of the park. The trail heads mainly along a ridge, so you do get a few good views, but most of the trail is in the trees. The grade rolls along with nothing too challenging until you get to the southern end. Then it loses elevation quickly to come into a nice valley and meadow along Hay Creek.

Flora & Fauna

The area is dominated by Aspen and pine.
