A sustained ascent up the ridge following Hope Creek until the intersection with the Ten Taypo Trail
. Head back the way you came for a ~3-mile out-and-back, or continue down the steeper, switchbacking Ten Taypo Trail
for a more challenging ~3.5-mile loop.
Access this trail off the east side of Newton B. Drury Scenic Parkway, across from the Ossagon Trail
and trailhead (mile marker 132.74).
Usually linked with the neighboring Ten Taypo Trail
, this is the easier of the two segments that heads up Hope Creek through a riparian (creekside) habitat, surrounded by a stately old-growth redwood forest.
After three-quarters of a mile, this trail begins to level off with another three-quarters of a mile up to a broad ridge.
